Linux is not an OS dispite many saying it is. What is it then? Well its a kernel. A kernel handles many things this includes interacting with hardware, memory mangement, process switching and more. So when you are moving to Linux you will choose have to choose an OS that uses the Linux Kernel. These are called Linux Distrubutions.
